The mountain terrain around Bjelašnica includes forest tracks, river valley roads, alpine meadows and historic shepherd paths that are completely inaccessible by standard vehicle. Quad and ATV tours unlock this hidden landscape — the valleys between Bjelašnica, Treskavica and Visočica that most visitors never see. No off-road experience is required; the guides lead at a pace suitable for all riders.
What the Tours Cover
Standard quad tours from the Bjelašnica area cover 20–40 km of off-road terrain per session. Routes cross the high plateau, dip into forested valley tracks, pass traditional mountain settlements (some abandoned, some still inhabited by seasonal shepherds) and reach viewpoints above the Rakitnica Canyon that are accessible by no other means. The terrain ranges from gravel plateau roads to muddy forest tracks to rocky shepherd paths — the variety is part of the appeal. Guides lead single-file through the more technical sections, setting a pace appropriate for the group.
Groups, Private Tours & Booking
Tours are available for individuals, couples and groups (up to 12 riders). Private tours can be customised in terms of route difficulty, duration and destination — ask for the extended valley route to the foot of the Rakitnica Canyon if you want to experience the gorge from below. Booking is arranged through our chalet team, who coordinate with our local tour operators. We strongly recommend booking 48–72 hours in advance during July and August. All tours depart and return to a meeting point 10 minutes from A Frame Chalets — we arrange transport.
Safety & Equipment
All riders receive a safety briefing, helmet, gloves and appropriate outerwear before departure. Quads are automatic-transmission machines (no motorcycle licence required). The guides are certified in mountain first aid and carry communication equipment. In the event of mechanical issues, the support vehicle shadows all tours. Children aged 10+ can ride as pillion passengers; independent riding requires a minimum age of 16.
